Richard “Dick” L. Cuthbertson, 79, of Durand, IL died at 11:55 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Monroe Clinic Hospital.\r\n\r\nBorn March 24, 1939 in Seward, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan and Bessie (Schroeder) Cuthbertson. Lived most of his life in Durand. Graduated from Durand High School. Married the former Sally Jo Tracy in Rockford, IL on December 23, 1966. He was employed as an electrical design engineer for 40 years by Barber Colman, IWT and retiring from Quantum Design. Veteran of the US Navy Submarine Force for six years, enlisting in 1957. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion Gold Star Post #676 in Durand, IL and former Durand and Durand Township board member. He was a bowler extraordinaire, having bowled a 300 game. In his retirement years, he drove for Bryden Ford and was always willing to help anyone who asked.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include daughter Bobbie (Steve) Eisen, Durand, IL; sons Chuck (Debbie) Cuthbertson, Machesney Park, IL and Chad Beaty, Loves Park, IL and granddaughters Courtni Fedie, Machesney Park, IL and Karli Beaty, Loves Park, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally Jo, sisters Patricia and Lois and brother Harlan “Cork”.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 2019 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Durand, IL with Chaplain Neil Dreier of American Legion Gold Star Post #676, Durand, IL officiating. Burial will be in Durand Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until time of ceremony Sunday.\r\n\r\nA memorial will be established.
