Richard Stearns, 91, formally from Beloit and Merrillan WI, died peacefully on June 29th at Independence Village in Loves Park, IL. He was born on September 21st in Milwaukee, WI. to Tom and Nathalie (Goetzman) Stearns. His family moved to Beloit where he attended the Beloit schools. After high school he enlisted in the Navy. When his tour of duty was complete, he was eventually hired by Jatco and worked there for 30 years until his retirement. His love for the north woods lead him to Merrillan, WI. where he enjoyed fishing, boating and relaxing. After the passing of his wife, he decided to move back to the Beloit area to be near his son. He enjoyed meeting and talking to new people and most of all reminiscing with his old friends, sharing stories about the good old days. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Darla) Stearns, grandsons Devin and Colin (Missy) Stearns, and great granddaughter, Olivia Stearns. Predeceased by his wife, Bonnie Lange, and sons Rick and Steve Stearns. As per Richard's wishes there will be no formal service. The family would like to thank the staff at Independence Village for the great care given to him.
