Robert W. “Bob” Weber, 78,Rockton, Illinois died at 3:12 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 in his own home surrounded by his loving family. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born March 6, 1931 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Margaret (Linn) Weber. Graduated from Byron High School, Class of 1950. Married Joanne P. Nelson in Rockford, Illinois on November 17, 1950. Owned and operated the Round Barn Farm in Durand, Illinois area for many years before moving to Rockton in 1985. He then worked at Dean Foods in Rockford, Illinois, later retiring from Hormel in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1990. Enjoyed summers at his cabin on Long Lake in the Rice Lake/Spooner, Wisconsin area. A member of Stateline Pool League for over 35 years, was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, but an overall sports fanatic. His favorite pastimes included golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice Care of America. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include special companion of 20 plus years – Jae Murray of Rockton, Illinois; son James Weber Freeport, Illinois; daughter Vicky (Ron) Folk , son John (Verlinda) Weber both of Durand, Illinois; daughter Diane (Rob) Thelen, Villa Park, Illinois, son Jeffery Weber, Austin, TX; daughter Patty (Carl) Chriss, Orangeville, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother Linn (Josephine) Weber, Byron, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter Peggy. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in McCorkle Funeral Home 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, Illinois with Reverend Ted Anderson of First Presbyterian in Beloit, Wisconsin officiating. Cremation Rites to be accorded. A visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday Feb 16, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial is being established.
