Rodney L. Williams, 77, Rockford, IL died at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in OSF St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness.\r\n\r\nBorn August 31, 1939 in Albany, WI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Carrie (Pagel) Williams. Married the former Susan M. Hollenbaugh in Rockford, IL on January 23, 1965. He was an independent over the road truck driver, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, family gatherings and riding cross country on motorcycle with his wife. He was a good cook. He graduated from Albany High School, Class of 1958. \r\n\r\nSurvivors include his daughter Linda Baete; son Scott Williams; seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sue.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL with Dr. Terry Pergl, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church, Rockford, IL officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until time of ceremonies Tuesday. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park, Rockford, IL.
