Russell was born in November of 1930 in Granton, Wisconsin to Michael and Gail (Short) Kellner. He was orphaned at the age of 7, and after being placed in the foster care system, he finally came upon a loving family that welcomed him into their home of 12 children of their own by Ole and Anne Elstrom of Colby, Wisconsin. Russell moved to Chicago at the age of 18, where he met his wife Delores (Kerns).
Russell is survived by his wife of 70 years Delores, who he adored immensely, daughter Karen (Steve) Dwulat and his sister Evelyn Schroeder, and nine grandchildren: Russell "Rusty", Callie, Nicole, Christopher, Lauren, Ricky, Brian, Matthew and Kelly. Great grandfather to seven and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy (Heath), son Michael, and his brother Alvin Kellner.
Russell was a proud Korean War Veteran, along with becoming a Mason and Shriner for almost 50 years, respected and loved by all who knew him. His kindness and generosity was known to everyone he came in touch with and His love and admiration for nature and animals unsurpassed beyond compare.
He enjoyed traveling the country with his wife Delores in their motorhome before becoming a Winter Texan in Brownsville. Meeting many lifelong friends during their adventures. There was nothing Russell wouldn't do to help his family, friends, neighbors or a stranger in need, he was the "go to guy" and "Mr. Fix-it."
Heaven gained another Angel to watch over all of us and keep the "RugRats" in check!
