Sally I. Lawson

Sally I. Lawson, 75, Durand, IL died at 6:15 a.m., Sunday, March 5, 2017 in her home after a brief illness.

Born December 4, 1941 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd and Margaret (Hogan) Kelsey. She graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1959. She married William G. Lawson in Durand, IL on June 22, 1963. She was employed in the accounting department by Sundstrand Aerospace, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and was active in bible studies and writing missionary letters.

Survivors include her husband, William Lawson, Durand, IL; daughters Julie (Tim) Martin, Ames, IA, Denise (Rob) Metras, North Field, MN and Sarah (Michael) Jones, Beloit, WI; son Jared Lawson, Richfield, MN; 11 grandchildren Kelsey (Isaac) Strohman, Mary Martin, Ashley Martin, Sam (Mallory) Metras, Alex Metras, Caleb Metras, Toby Metras, Benton Ellis, Raegan Jones, Callan Jones and Colton Jones; great grandson Henry and one great granddaughter on the way; sisters Virginia Cooper, Lake Summerset, IL, Shirley Sweet, Durand, IL and Kathy Whitehouse; sister-in-law Carol Kelsey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Weyburn and Phillip.

Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 in Heritage Baptist Church, 12848 Willowbrook Road, Roscoe, IL with Reverend Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Durand, IL. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12 and from 9:30 a.m. till time of ceremony at the church on Monday, March 13.
