Shirley J. Smith

Shirley J. Smith, 70, of Lake Summerset, IL, died 4:37 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Wood’s Crossing in Brodhead, WI.
Born July 4, 1947 in Walhalla, North Dakota the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren and Sophie (Tesmer) Tesmer. She married Gene A. Smith in Chicago, IL on June 10, 1968. She was employed at William Fremd High School in Palatine, IL as a student supervisor and lunch lady, retiring in 2006. She was a proud member of the Bocce Club and the Lake Summerset Art Club. She loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include husband Gene Smith; son Kenneth Smith; daughter Chelie (Abraham) Guajardo; son Timothy (Jessica) Smith; five grandchildren Gino, Angelo, AJ, Ava and Oliva; sister Lorie Purser; brother Curt Tesmer and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial ceremonies will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15585 Durand Road, Durand, IL with Reverend Pat Esker officiating. Final resting place will be St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL. Cremation rites to be accorded. Visitation will be held in the church from 9:00 a.m. till time of service on Saturday.
