Virginia “June” Bliss, 83, Sun City West, Arizona, died Monday, March 14, 2011 in Sun City West, Arizona after a sudden illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born May 23, 1927 in Forreston, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Nina (Meyers) \r\r\n\r\r\n Williams. Lived 31 years in Sun City West, Arizona, coming here from Durand, Illinois. She married Wayne E. Boomer in July 1947 and they lived in Durand. She worked many years at the Hilltop Restaurant in Durand and then at Warner Lambert in Rockford, Illinois as a machine operator, retiring in 1979. In 1980, she moved to Sun City West, Arizona. In July 1980 she married Leland Bliss in Sun City West. She was a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona and a long-time member of the Durand United Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 52 years. She graduated from Forreston High School, Class of 1945. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include son, Lynn (Donna) Boomer, Pecatonica, Illinois; daughter, Terry (Steven) Morse, Munster, Indiana; four grandchildren Brian (Jackie) Boomer, Pecatonica, Illinois, Kyle (Jennifer) Boomer, Winnebago, Illinois, Samantha Morse and Jacob Morse, both of Munster, Indiana and three great grandchildren Jacob, Jordyn and Jaxon Boomer, all of Winnebago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband Leland Bliss and daughter Mary Boomer. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Reverend Gary Turner, pastor of New Life Bible Church, Winnebago, Illinois officiating. Burial will be in Durand Cemetery, Durand, Illinois. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial will be established.
