Virginia Westbrook

Virginia M. Westbrook, 98, died on September 26, 2024 in Medina Nursing Center. Born on August 16, 1926 in Belvidere, IL, the daughter of William H. and Ellen I. (Nelson) Britton. She attended Belvidere schools, graduating in 1944. Virginia married Glenn E. Westbrook in Belvidere on June 11, 1944. The Westbrooks moved from Belvidere to Rockford in 1956.

She was employed as a packer and quality control by Amerock for 25 and a half years. Member of Shirland United Methodist Church, Woman's Club of Rockton, Leisure Group of Amerock and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Rod) Howell of Brighton, Colorado; son Ronald Westbrook of Ponderay, Idaho; grandchildren, Rheta and Sean; great-grandchildren, Talia, Keegan and Damien; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was especially fond of her nieces Marcia Appel, Liz Lightfoot and Pam Williams, as well as her grand niece Kim Rate.

Virginia wanted to thank all the residents and staff at Medina for their constant care and support during the past eight years. She made many friends. She enjoyed all the offerings provided—crafts, outings, church services, games and even grew to like bingo.

Predeceased by her parents; husband, Glenn; sister, Clara Greenlee and brother, Cliff Britton.

Cremation Rites to be Accorded. Final Resting place to be in Harrison Township Cemetery. McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel assisted the family.
