Walter N. Johnson, 86 of Durand, IL died at 6:25 pm Friday March 2, 2012 in his home after lengthy illness. \r\r\n\r\r\nBorn February 25, 1926 in Durand, IL the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mary (Erickson) Johnson. He graduated from Durand High School class of 1944. Married to the former Evelyn A. Stoll in Belvidere, IL on April 8, 1945. Walter was a livestock farmer all of his life. He is a lifetime member of American Angus Association, member and past board member of Ilinois Angus Association, Charter member of Northern Illinois Angus Association. He has a great love for Angus cattle and his children and grandchildren always had cattle to show at fairs. He was a Laona Township Election Judge for many years; was a ring man at 4H Livestock Shows for many years. \r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include: wife Evelyn; sons Gary Johnson, Douglas (Ruth) Johnson, Greg (Dawn) Johnson; grandchildren: Heidi (Scott) Bredeson, Erica, Eric, Danielle, Emily, Jeremiah (Robin) and Jason; 7 great grandchildren; brothers Harold (Reva) Johnson and Ray (Fran) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Glenn “Putter” Johnson and Daughter in Law Holle. \r\r\n\r\r\nFuneral ceremonies at 12:00 pm Saturday March 10, 2012 in McCorkle Funeral Home 101 Main St Durand with Pastor Bob Kolb of Faith Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Durand Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am until time of funeral on Saturday. A memorial is being established.
