Walter M. Szymanski, 70, of Rockton, died at 1:35 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Swedish American Hospital after a battle with cancer. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born May 2, 1943 in Rockford the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew and Angeline (DiVerdi) Szymanski. Lived in the Rockton area for 13 years. Married the former Vicki Elsasser in Loves Park on September 11, 1965. Employed as an architect by many different firms in the Rockford area. Walter was a train enthusiast, enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife, Vicki Szymanski of Rockton; sons, Ted (Annette) Szymanski of Tomah, WI, Curt (Suzanne) Szymanski of Durand; and Brad (Kathy) Szymanski of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Jacob and Elyse; siblings, Matthew (Barbara) Szymanski, Eugene Szymanski, Carol Barbagallo, Alex (Amy) Szymanski, David Szymanski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Private graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Winnebago, with Father Dean Russell of St. James Catholic Church officiating.
