Wayne Allen Asche, 80, Winnebago, Illinois, died at 4:12 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness due to a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s disease.\r\r\n\r\r\n Born March 23, 1935 in Seward Township, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Weert and Mary (Kaltenbach) Asche. Graduated from Leaf River High School, Class of 1953. Married the former Joan Catherine Smith in The Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton, Illinois on May 20, 1967. He farmed in the Winnebago, Illinois area. Served in the US Army during peace time from 1954-1956, stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, Spec 3rd Class, 271st Combat Engineers. He was a member of the Seward Congregational Church and Durand American Legion Gold Star Post #676. He was a former member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses in the D3 Wing at Rockford Memorial Hospital for all the tender loving care given to dad.\r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include children, Allen (Mary) Asche, Durand, Illinois, Tara (Matt) Wells, Beloit, Wisconsin and David (Jen) Asche, Winnebago, Illinois; grandchildren, Colton, Kaitlin, Alena, Shane, Samantha, Hannah, Alyssa, Aubree and Garret; sister-in-law Phyllis Asche and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan who died on December 3, 2015, son Bradley, brothers Raymond (Dorothy), Walter (Ruth), Laverne and Melvin (Rose) Asche, sisters Bertha (Chet) White, Irene (Simon) Munk and Velma (Chuck) Wagner and nephew Gary Wagner.\r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 in McCorkle Funeral Home,-Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with Reverend David Bordy, of Seward Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday. \r\r\n\r\r\n In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
