We are saddened to announce the passing of William Lutzenkirchen, affectionately known as Stoney, on July 5, 2023. Born in Chicago, IL on September 17, 1938, William led a life characterized by humility, generous love, and unwavering support for his loved ones. His life's journey led him from his birthplace in Chicago to his final residence in Davis, Illinois, but no matter where he resided, his heart always held a special place for his family.\n\nWilliam's dedication to service was evident in his professional life as a fireman. He joined the City of Wheaton Fire Department in 1958 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant, a testament to his strong commitment as a proud first responder. William retired in 1997, but his passion for helping others never waned. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, yard work, and in his younger years, bike riding along the Illinois Prairie Path. He was an avid reader and a passionate fan of watching golf and old movies.\n\nWilliam was a loving father to Maureen (Tom) Cain, Mike (Mary) Lutzenkirchen, Ellyn Lutzenkirchen, Andy (Beckie) Lutzenkirchen; grandfather to Meggan (Ryan) Graika, Matthew (Leah) Cain, Amy (Bobby) Rowan, Ann Lutzenkirchen, Abby (Miller) Forristall, Adam VanDyke, Ella Lutzenkirchen and Allie Lutzenkirchen; great grandfather to Olivia, Lilli, Zander, Ruthie, Maddie, Cape; brother to Daniel (Helen) Lutzenkirchen, sister-in-law Patricia "Pat" Lutzenkirchen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Lutzenkirchen; his parents, Francis and Mary Louise Lutzenkirchen; his brothers, Robert and Thomas Lutzenkirchen; and grandson, Philip Lutzenkirchen. \n\nA visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel 101 Main St. on Tuesday July 11, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Knoup officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery Durand, IL.\n\nWilliam's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as those he helped during his time as a fireman.
