William J. “Bill” Mareth, Jr., 85, Durand, IL, died at 10:39 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 peacefully at home.\r\r\n\r\r\n Born October 4, 1930 in Rockford, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. and Clara (Chase) Mareth, Sr. Graduated from St. Thomas High School, Class of 1948. Married the former Betty J. Horsman in Rockford, IL on October 18, 1952. He was employed as a tool and die maker, retiring from Hallmark Tool and Die in 1993. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Navy. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Rockford, IL and Durand American Legion Gold Star Post #676 He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Winnebago Clinic for all their care given to Bill.\r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include his wife, Betty, Durand, IL; daughters, Deborah (Robert) Heinz, Rockford, IL and Kathy; sons, William (Heidi), Davis, IL, Michael (Kimberlee), Homestead, FL, Timothy (Lisa) Roscoe, IL and Charles (Susan) Mareth, Durand, IL; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Reum, Rockford, IL; brother, Robert (Marlene) Mareth, Monet, MO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Suzanne and sister Carol Norregaard.\r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 in St. Mary Catholic Church, \r\r\n\r\r\n 602 W Main Street, Durand, IL. Final resting place will be St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, IL.\r\r\n\r\r\n Cremation rites will be accorded.
